Oh and the next time one of the "phone solicitors" intrudes on your day you might want to remember this.

The phone rang as I was sitting down to my anticipated evening meal, and as I answered it

I was greeted with, "Is this William Wagenhoss?"

This didn't sound anything like my name, so I asked, "Who is calling?"

The telemarketer said he was with The Rubberband-Powered FreezerCompany or something like that and then I asked him if he knewWilliam personally and why was he calling this number. I then said off to the side, "Get really good pictures of the body and allthe blood."I then turned back to the phone and advised the caller thathe had entered a murder scene and must stay on the line because we had already traced this call and he would be receiving a summons to appearin the local courthouse to testify in this murder case.I then questioned the caller at great length as to his name, address, phone number at home, at work, who he worked for, how he knew the dead guy and could he prove where he had been about one hour before he made this call. The telemarketer was getting very concerned and hisanswers were given in a shaky voice.I proceeded to tell him we had located his position at his workplace and the police were entering the building to take him intocustody. At that point, I heard the headset fall and the scurryingof his running away.

My meal was cold, but oh-so-very enjoyable.

My Space

Wow did we strike a chord this AM. Countless emails on the subject. Want to share a few with you and a link.

Mr. Jericho,

I was listening to your show this morning, and I have to admit, I had to fight back the tears. For the past few years I have seen what you are talking about. I have spent extensive amounts of time trying to figure out what is causing the breakdown of society’s relationships. There is only one thing I could narrow it down to. I think we have lost our vision. And I’m not talking about our country; I’m talking about the backbone of our country, the church. Prayer meetings, Teachings, House Churches, have all been replaced with programs. In the history of the church, has it ever functioned more like a business? I am a 29 year old male construction worker that does not trust people. I have been stiffed on bills by Christians, punched by a fellow church member, and twice now been a part of two major church split ups because of the selfish nature of man. I love Christ with my whole heart, but the Church has hurt me. I am not the only one. In the construction world, I meet countless “sinners” (though most of these people I cherish for their worldly integrity, at least they have integrity) and most of them feel the same way. The one place where you used to be able to go and let your guard down now condemns. Many years ago I was unfaithful to my first wife. Did the church offer assistance; no they snubbed their noses at me at the grocery store, and gossiped about me at the beauty salon. My contempt for church grew when a local resident committed suicide. She was a lesbian. I thought what a great opportunity for the church to reach out to her lesbian friends and put their arms around them and show Christ to them. My expectations were too great. Person after person went to speak, telling them they will go to hell if they don’t repent. Mr. Jericho, this breaks my heart. We have all forgotten where we came from. I want to be loved, the way Christ loved. So an answer to your question about what can we do? I think it starts with some of us that are tired of the condemnation and the social barriers that keep us apart. It is time we of all color, all social status, and mostly of all denominations, come together and worship. Let us show these people that use myspace.com the right kind of love, so they will not fall into the trap. And maybe, just maybe, we can save some of them.

Thank You, Mr. Jericho.

Vince,
There is at least one church that was formed specifically to be a virtual church...the message streamed on the internet, etc. Now it is (I believe) live...not podcast...but so much for the koinonia of the christian fellowship.

Here is a different perspective...
God placed within every human the instinctive desire to share our most personal things, preferably our relationship with God our Father, thus giving us the push even the most shy of us need to go forth and witness to our neighbors. Also, as Christians, we have been given instructions to gather and have fellowship with other Christians in order to keep positive in a world ruled by Satan.
These inate qualities, however, are by no means guaranteed to be powered by our Lord, and in fact, prove to be a great place for Satan to step in to the lives of unsuspecting individuals and get his foot in the door! Think about it just for a minute...Satan, by sneaking into our lives through all forms of media and especially the internet, can not only provide a place for people to feel warm and cozy and share their innermost feelings (although very rarely may this be about Christ) and at the same time almost completely limit contact (fellowship) with other children of our Lord. Sly dog is the Devil!
About these things we have many times been warned and should take heed. I have read but do not recall the exact scriptures that verify all of this, but trust me--it's in the Bible somewhere!!

Money in: Garbage out!

There is no question there is NO correlation between money spent and increases in the quality of education. In fact there seems to be an inverse relationship. Our education system IS broken.

Roast in Hell

I appreciate God will have the final judgement and I have NO doubt he will be far more gracious and forgiving than I would ever be but for now I do take some satisfaction the Al - Zarqawi is in a very hot place with NO virgins anywhere in sight.

Why am I feeling good. Knowing a man such as this is no more.
