Hollow Men

Challenging the power structures in this community is a dangerous thing to do. To challenge the major churches...well that's suicide! Email and calls of what a horrible man I am continue to flood in.

The truth is the truth and other than the Amish rebuilding someone's house what have you heard from the churches after the Tornados and devastation. OK a total of 4-churches set up as aid stations, maybe 5. Look in the yellow pages and count the number of churches listed and reflect on this again, four maybe five churches in a three county area, {Webster, Christian, Greene} step up sort of. All they did is say ok you can use our gym as a shelter. Yoo-hoo!

here is an email sent out by a GREAT church in our area that Mr Jericho DOES stand against but is doing MORE than he OR his show (either way you want to put it) is doing. Its funny, all Vince wants to do is run his mouth and stand by a truck collecting supplies. Why dont you swing a hammer and do something productive. Seriously, I would think this "hero of the faith" would at the very least partner up with churches in the area that ARE doing someting and say "hey these churches- X-Y-and- Z are taking donations of A-B-C items so help out if you can.

There is ALWAYS strength in numbers.

Below is a copy of the email I recieved from the "palace" in Ozark. I personaly attend a small church in Nixa and am not affiliated with James River but I think what they are doing is GREAT.

Im not your average Christian nice guy, if you have half a brain you probabely figured that out by now.

here's the email..........

Tornado Relief Project
The tornados that struck the Ozarks last Sunday evening damaged the homes and property of several members of our James River family and their neighbors.

Homes in the Nixa and Clever areas were leveled by the storm. Many cars were tossed about like toys, trees were completely uprooted and debris was strewn across neighborhoods. Because of the widespread damage we are seeking volunteers to help our JRA families who are in need.

On Tuesday volunteers from JRA distributed cardboard boxes and tape to families who have been asked, by authorities, to pack up what was left of their homes and relocate

Yesterday volunteers helped cover the homes of JRA families and their neighbors with tarps to stave off forecasted rain. Volunteers have also called on members of our Constructors In Action Ministry, Outreach Ministry and those who helped with the Katrina Relief efforts for help.

More volunteers are needed.

If you would like to join our list of volunteer teams and show members of our church family and their neighbors the love of Christ, please send an email to info@jamesriver.org with your name, address, contact numbers, available times to serve and any special skills or tools you can share or visit http://www.jamesriver.org/relief.cfm and fill in the form online.

Depending on the needs of the community , we will provide notice through the church website and announcements with further information and instructions.

Following is a list of tools you can bring if called upon to help:

Leather gloves
Chainsaws
Gasoline
Chainsaw oil
Shovels
Rakes
Ropes
Trailers
Trucks
Trash bags
Wheelbarrows

Sometimes I think certain people are a little quick to jump on the "condemnation band wagon" and I wonder how encouraging and productive that is.

Maybe a call to action rather than condemnation would be a bit more encouraging.

There are plenty of people who want to trash Christians in this community and the country, at large. I'm sure they appreciate all the help they can get and especially when it comes from a fellow member of the Body of Christ.

It is usually a liberal trait to hold Christians to a higher standard, never excusing them and always expecting them to be perfect and do the perfect thing, even though, in reality, it is Christians, of all people, who recognize their own weaknesses more than others.

I wish that all Christians could be as dedicated to perfection and service as those who have the advantage of radio promotion, sadly, that just isn't the case.

Shame on churches for being full of imperfect sinners who happen to be blessed enough to be saved by grace. Tsk, tsk.

I was listening Thursday morning when Mr. Jericho was talking about this subject. I think he was talking about this subject. In the mornings as I am getting ready for my regular job and driving to it I catch bits and pieces of the show so maybe I missed the part where he defined his subject. Anway I do remember that he did exclaim that "People just don't get it!" What is the "it" that folks are not attaining. Please somebody tell me what "it" is. From the little part of the show I caught Mr. Jericho was pretty vague about what "it" is. When I look around, I see that "it" might be Gatorade. Their commercials ask, "Is it in you?" I say NO! If "it" is Gatorade, then I don't want "it" because being diabetic I don't need all that extra sugar water in my body. Then again whatever "it" is, would be available on EBay, right? Though I suspect that Mr. Jericho is not talking about something that can be purchased. Please, be more specific about what "it" is!

"It" is Mr. Jericho's sad and somewhat pathetic attempt to claim that he is the only savior of Springfield, and everyone else -- city officials, church leaders, John Q. Hammons -- is beneath him. Mr. Jericho knows the pride. His fall cometh soon.

But he's too afraid to even admit this. That's why he won't take unsolicited, unscreened comments to this blog. Only the properly pre-screened need comment.

I noticed how the email from James River as posted in the first reply says they are "seeking volunteers to help our JRA families who are in need." Is that a typo?

Yeah? They want to help their own, what about the rest of the community? Did Jesus just heal people who went to his teachings or did he help the poor sinners?

You know, I can't say that I disagree. Nice point.
