The US Debt Clock in Real Time

This will sober you up fast!

A letter I got

Yesterday when I was at the dr.'s office, I met the most AMAZING two year old boy named Zachary. He had incredible manners and was talking up a storm. His mother and I were talking and she asked him to say the Pledge of Allegiance for me. He stopped playing with the toys and stood in front of me and said it.....perfectly!!! I was blown away!! I told the mom "kudos" for teaching him the Pledge of Allegiance, especially at such a young age. I then said it was great for him to learn it now, because he won't learn it once he gets in school.
Then she said, "It's his favorite thing to say. He also loves singing all kinds of patriotic songs. His favorite is "I'm Proud to be an American". I asked Zachary if he would sing it for me, and he did. I got goosebumps, and tears welled up in my eyes.
Then she said that her parents are both Vietnam Vets. On the 4th of July, he sang it for them and everyone that was at their celebration couldn't help but cry.
I was so impressed with this little two year old boy and his mother for being so patriotic. Why can't ALL Americans be this way???
I just wanted to share this story with you. It gave me some hope yesterday......and maybe it will give you some hope as well.

McCaskill Hosts Health Care Listening Forums Across Missouri in August

In West Plains and Springfield, McCaskill hosts events to listen to concerns related to health care reform efforts

WASHINGTON, D.C. – As more and more Americans and businesses struggle to afford health care coverage, U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill has been hearing from Missourians who are concerned about health care reform efforts in Washington. During the August home work period, McCaskill will be traveling across the state hosting a series of town hall events and roundtables to gather input and listen to concerns.

On Monday, August 31st, McCaskill will be traveling across the state to host health care forums in West Plains and Springfield. Visit McCaskill’s website to sign up to attend the West Plains forum or the Springfield forum. McCaskill has already hosted forums in Kennett, Poplar Bluff, Jefferson County, Hannibal, Moberly, and Kansas City. Forums are scheduled for Warrensburg and Jefferson City on Wednesday, August 26th for a total of ten open forums across the state. For more information, please contact one of McCaskill’s five Missouri offices.

McCaskill is committed to reforming health care in America in a way that does not add to the federal deficit. As the health care reform bill makes its way through the relevant Senate committees, McCaskill will be looking for a bill that provides consumer choices, brings down the overall cost of health care and delivers better outcomes for patients. During her listening tour, she intends to gather Missourians’ views on health care and take them back with her when she returns to Washington to debate the health care bill in the fall.

Constituents are highly encouraged to register for the events. Depending on the turn-out, there may be more people wishing to attend the event than there is capacity to hold them. Seating may be limited and will be first come, first serve. Additional events will be advised in the next few days.

Individuals with disabilities who require auxiliary aids or services to participate in these events should contact Crystal Quade at 417-868-8745, no later than Friday, August 28, 2009.
